Good afternoon! I am happily exhausted from hosting three periods of classes in my room to assist them with learning how to use the Chromebooks. I forgot how difficult it is to teach all day without a break.

One of the classes only had 5 or 6 kids that hadn’t used Chromebooks before, so we modified the lesson so that I just worked with the small group while the other teacher helped the kids who already knew how to use the Chromebooks. One skill that teachers definitely need is flexibility! Sometimes you need to change things at the last minute. For example, about half of the Chromebooks weren’t working for my 2nd period class and we read Fahrenheit 451 instead. Thank goodness that I have a class set and the audio CDs. Surprisingly, most students had their books, which was great.

Today some teachers were talking about digital citizenship and how we really need to teach those skills. Students don’t seem to understand the life-altering consequences of inappropriate online behavior.
